The questions promote reflection about how important certain behaviors are and how well one demonstrates those behaviors in a mentoring/managing/supervising relationship.
Use the Self-Assessment:
In conjunction with mentor skills training to set new agendas for yourself as a mentor.
To share with your supervisor how the assessment has increased your awareness of key mentoring issues and solicit his/her feedback.
To review your assessment with your direct reports or mentees: You and they will benefit from discussing what you are doing well and what you can do better as a mentor.
We recommend that after mentoring for a number of months, you complete a second assessment to evaluate progress. We suggest you ask your mentees for input about your self-evaluation.
